A Magnficent Palace and Golf Resort in the Poitou-Charentes Region of southwest France
The Domaine des Forges basks in the second sunniest region of France after the Côte d'Azur. On the nearby Atlantic coast, the resorts of La Rochelle and Ìle d'Oléron (just over 1 hr drive away) are some of the most popular holiday areas of France. Mild winters, early spring and long summers (hot, but not too hot) add up to good, all the year round playing weather. Although not on the tourist 'trail' there are many interesting and varied places to visit, all within easy reach of the château - from the sparkling high-tec of Futuroscope to the peaceful canals and ancient waterways of 'la Venise Verte'. Spend long evenings sampling superb wines and French cuisine at one of the wide range of local restaurants.
The chateau is situated on a 26 hecter estate, with two tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool, a water lily pond and some private rose gardens. It is surrounded by the beautiful countryside of France's famed Poitou-Charentes region 4km from a village (Mouton Village) Vasle with shops, 35km from Poitiers and 25km from the historic, medieval town of Parthenay in Poitou-Charentes district, a town with a charming medieval quarter, riverside walk lined with restaurants, cafes and an open-air market and all essential services.
